Fashiondiction’s First Birthday

To get you guys updated, you haven’t heard from me in a bit because I have been working on some really special posts for the month of March, since it is…….*drum roll* THE 1ST BIRTHDAY OF FASHIONDICTION!!!! WOOT WOOT!

February is the month that we started the blog but March was when we officially launched Fashiondiction and WOW!!! I can’t believe it has already been a year!
So much has changed, we have progressed far more than we had anticipated and what started as a personal hobby has grown into something completely unexpected.

So for Fashiondiction’s birthday celebration month we will be looking back into our fashion looks, outfits that never made it on the blog, special photoshoots, plus so much more (but I’m not saying anymore so you’ll just have to wait and see).

On the very last day of the month keep an eye out because you won’t want to miss our last post 😉

Outfit Post – Think Pink

Playsuit – Mink | Flats – Miss Shop

Photos taken by – Yunn Chin Photography

This October month has been all about the colour PINK for breast cancer awareness. Besides the fact that pink is my favourite colour, this month has hit close to home, with a family member passing away with cancer earlier this year.

“Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Australian women (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer).” http://canceraustralia.gov.au/healthy-living/campaigns-events/breast-cancer-awareness-month

The Australian community has done a big part in contributing to raising funds for research into the prevention and cure of breast cancer through fundraisers and events.

My work in particular hosted a high tea, raising money for the cause and encouraged everyone to wear pink last Friday.

At college there was pink to bee seen throughout the month and pink ribbon stalls were everywhere, at stations, malls and walkways.

Besides my small contribution I thought I would post up the outfit I wore earlier this month with the encouragement to wear pink.

Even though we are at the end of breast cancer awareness month, it’s not too late to contribute; for more information and to make a donation big or small, you can visit: http://www.nbcf.org.au/

Fossil leather preview launch

For my 15th birthday I received my very first Fossil watch, it was given to me by my brother Erick and his girlfriend Elin. It was a pink-faced watch, with a delicate design and a wristband that resembled a silver bracelet. It was one of my most treasured gifts because I admired the people who had gifted it to me.

Through the years I have watched the Fossil brand grow and I admired from a far. When I had the money or if there was a special occasion I would happily splurge for a new watch.

Being a big fan of the brand, when I initially received the email invitation to attend the launch, I was convinced it was spam. I thought to myself “No, they wouldn’t know who I am”, so I casually brushed it aside.

It wasn’t until fashion blogger Camille asked me if I was attending, I all of a sudden realized that I was genuinely invited and got super excited :D. Thank goodness she asked or else I would have never went!

I attended the launch last Tuesday held at Alexandria Sydney, Vicinity Dining. The event was in an intimate private room secluded from the restaurant.

I assumed that I would be walking into a room full of watches, but to my surprise, there were a range of bags displayed.

The brand, which is moving into their 30th anniversary in 2014, is going into a different direction with their brand and products. Their current campaign is called “Make your mark”, using a lot of bold colours and graphics within their new designs.

We were lucky enough to be one of the first in Sydney to preview their new collection, which will be released in July – August and you guys also get a sneak peak :).

The preview was very interactive, allowing us to feel, touch and explore the new bags as they explained the design behind it.

Fossil will be releasing four lines of handbags and wallets, which will cater to most women who love functionality, lightweight bags with a vintage, quirky or fun design.

Fossil_Lauch-16

The line called “Key-Per” was initially brought out as a Christmas edition; however, it received such a big response that instead it was made available all year round and I can see why.

This line is perfect for anyone who is studying or enjoys fun, colourful designs (like me). It is functional with many storage pockets for the every day woman and made with coated canvas for those who prefer not to use leather.

This year’s design is based on pencil shavings, striped colours and polka dots. Reflecting Fossil’s humorous and quirky side. Plus the bags are so affordable with prices ranging from $129-$149.

Fossil_Lauch-7

Fossil_Lauch-8

Fossil_Lauch-9

Fossil will be focusing on 3 main lines, one of which is the “Memoir”. This line is for the women who appreciate more of a vintage design, inspired by the 1950’s.

With articulate hardware and beautiful interior, this vintage design comes in different shapes and sizes to suit anyone.

I usually don’t do much leopard print, however, I LOVE their leopard print used on the vintage designed bags. The Memoir ranges from $279-$299.

The second line that they are focusing on is the “Erin”. It’s functional, affordable with great hardware and has the best quality leather, signature to fossil.

The texture of the bag was so soft and smooth with a buttery leather feel; made with a lot pockets to store your everyday gadgets.

Initially I was a little unsure about this design, I was worried about the wear and tear of the bag due to its delicate texture, but don’t let this fool you. Because of the leather used, which is the best in the market, I learnt that the bag would look even better over time. With the best quality leather, the Erin line ranges to $149-$349.

Fossil_Lauch-6

The main line that Fossil is focusing on this year is the “Sydney”, which is my personal favourite out of the four.

The Sydney bags come in a multitude of colours; orange, plum (my favourite), teal, gold black etc. The designs are vintage inspired with a modern twist.

After handling the bag, it was surprisingly lightweight and durable, which is good because if your like me, my whole world is in my bag.

Fossil will also be concentrating on their new signature print, inspired by mid Century architecture. I personally love it!  I love the rhythm, colour and shapes used.

The Sydney line ranges from $149 – $279 ( so affordable! )

Not forgetting their watches, this year it is all about “Owning the wrist”. Fossil’s pieces are jewellery inspired, with bands ranging in fun colours that pop and with such feminine designs. They also have beautiful bracelets so you can layer it up with their new line of watches.

Shirt Bag from Cream

Shirt – ASOS  |  Disco Pants – American Apparel  |  Shoes – Converse  |  Jacket – Cotton On  |  Bag – Shirt Bag from Cream

At college, I met this girl called Kat and she was wearing the most awesome bag I’ve ever seen. No, it was not a big brand name like Luis Vuitton or Chanel, it was actually a brand that I had never heard of before.

We were walking to the food court and I expressed that I needed a new backpack. I realised my Coach and Michael Kors bag was not appropriate to be carrying books in (face palm moment).

She then told me about her awesome bag that was made from a shirt. At first I thought it sounded pretty cool but as soon as I laid my eyes on it,  I was in awe.

It was AWESOME!!!

You should really see this bag in person to understand the extensiveness of how awesome it actually is but I’ll try my best to describe it.  The front of the bag where the collar was located was actually a pocket and the sides where the sleeves were sewn were pockets too.

Ok, so I’ll be the first to admit that I get pretty damn excited when I see something I like. However, this bag was so awesome that another girl in class overheard our conversation and bought the bag too. Now we all match hehehe.

The weekend after, I went to buy the bag in Newtown Sydney and realized that they had an amazing collection of clothes. I was upset that I didn’t know about this store earlier.

The bags that they stocked all had individual designs, none of them were the same. This made the selection process so much harder because I could only choose one.

Initially I was leaning more towards the crazy patterned and coloured design but then Chin reminded me that I would be using the bag everyday. So I decided to go for the red, still bold but at least I can match it with a lot more outfits.

If you haven’t already heard of the store you should definitely check it out (unfortunately it is only located in Australia) –http://www.creamonline.com.au/

If you are in Australia, you can find the stores at –

Fashion Bloggers outing to Voi

I’ve been meaning to post this for sometime but didn’t get the chance till now.

A couple of weeks ago after the bloggers gathering at the WhatIWear.com event, Camille Sioco, ( Fashion Blogger- www.frillyskirts.net ) invited Jessica Truong ( Fashion Blogger- www.mindbodyshop.blogspot.com.au ) and I to attend an event at a store called Voi.

Located in Sydney’s CBD central shopping area on Castlereagh street, I was surprised that this was the first time I had heard of the store ‘Voi’.

Voi is an outlet store stocking all the desired brands from Burberry, Gucci, D&G and YSL which have been slashed to affordable prices.

We were fortunate enough to meet the owner Gennaro and share a glass of bubbly with to celebrate the end of fashion week. He was kind enough to show us a new up and coming wine bar that will be opening right next to his store. Seriously, wine and shopping… what more could a girl want? 🙂

Before stepping into the store, I always thought that brand named items on sale were only available in designer warehouses or in American outlet stores. But after checking out the prices at Voi, I definitely can’t wait to go back and do some serious damage to my savings.

On Sunday, I styled a photoshoot for the photographer Nelson Cortez, Voi generously provided the gowns for the shoot. The gorgeous, statuesque like model Christiana Fischer, was absolutely stunning in the Versace gown and Gai Mattiolo skirt.

To get a sneak peak on the amazing photos, I’ll be posting up behind the scene photos soon so STAY TUNED !!!

This week Voi has just launched their online shopping website so check it out – http://www.shopatvoi.com

Vintage Christian Dior Bow-tie and the LBD

Shirt – SES  |  Dress – Blockout  |  Bow Tie – Christian Dior Vintage  |  Socks – Sportsgirl  |  Flats – Haute Couture

On Tuesday last week I had my first day of Fashion College, studying a Bachelor degree in Fashion Marketing.

Before this date so many things were going through my mind; what if the girls are bitchy, what if they don’t like me, what if they don’t like what I’m wearing. You can imagine I was very reluctant about what to wear and how to look.

I can get a little bit crazy with my wardrobe and I usually have the mentality of “I’ll wear whatever I want and I don’t care what anyone else thinks”.  This time however, I started to question if my crazy style was appropriate for the first day of collage. You know what they say first impressions are everything.

But then it dawned on me, I decided to study this course for me, for my future and my career, so why am I worrying about other people think. I realized I was worrying about something so insignificant and should really be worrying about getting the best marks possible.

That morning, I turned to my usual place of inspiration; my mood, what the weather was like and what item in my wardrobe I was dying to wear.

If you have followed me from the start, you would be familiar about my soft spot for bow ties. Personally, I love bow ties, especially my vintage Christian Dior, baby blue polka dot bowtie. The moment I laid eyes on this beauty, I was in love! So much so that it was worthy enough to claim the title of one of my favourite things in my large extensive wardrobe.

To complete the look I went with the classic black and white duo, a white polo t-shirt underneath a tight fitting LBD. To make the outfit different, I wore matching blue socks with black flats.

Despite the fact that I over think and imagine the worst possible case scenario, the first day was awesome. I made friends and now in the second week into it I’ve realized what a big difference it is to be doing something your passionate about.

What are you passionate about?

Subtle pops of colour

Dress – Blockout  |  Shirt – Chicabooti  |  Blazer – ASOS  |  Head Piece – Lovisa  |  Flats – Miss Shop

Happy Hump day everyone!

Sorry about the late post, there has been a slight delay with the remaining photos from the “Statements Photoshoot”. I promise part 2 will be released soon but the good news is I have a new outfit to post :).

Last Friday I attended an induction day for Raffles college, It was a day dedicated to new students who will be attending the college this year… like me 🙂 hehehe.

The last time I had studied was when I was fresh out of high school and did a fashion design course… that was almost 4 years ago. You can imagine the extreme change of lifestyle from being cooped up in an office cubicle to a full time student.

I decided that I would go to the induction day in attire that I was comfortable in, but still reflected the essence of fashion college life.

Keeping it basic, I wore a buttoned up collared shirt underneath a black tight fitting dress. On the day, I actually wore my rose-laced black bowtie but misplaced it for this photo shoot :(.  So instead I decided to feature my flower head piece, which I’ve been dying to wear.

For my signature pop of colour, I chose to team the basic black and white with a green blazer and pink flats.

Just a quick tip – layering a black dress with an open blazer, cardigan and jacket flatters your shape by making your figure look skinnier. That day, I wasn’t feeling the most attractive (shape wise). Wearing the blazer on top gave me that little boost of confidence.

Yesterday was my first day at Raffles college, so watch this space to see what I wore on my first day back as student.

Stay tuned for more photos from the Statements photoshoot, hopefully I’ll be able to post them up soon :).

See you guys on Saturday!!!

WhatIWear.com Event

Floral Shirt – ASOS  |  Dress – Cotton on  |  Socks – Sportsgirl  |  Bowler Hat – Tempt  |  Tote Bag – Michael Kors

Last Saturday I was invited to attend an event held by WhatIWear.com.

The event was for selected Sydney fashion bloggers to get to know each other and meet the people behind the site. The main aspect of the event was to communicate the type of community WhatIWear.com are aiming to portray through their new website. It was an opportunity for fashion bloggers to come together to share their insights and knowledge about all things fashion related.

In light of the event, they had given us colours to dress for the occasion; orange, black and white. Orange is not a colour I wear often, it was once a colour I hated, but has since grown on me.

It was truly refreshing walking into Guylian’s Café in Darling harbour (where the event was held) and seeing all these intimidatingly beautiful bloggers painted in the themed colours. Knowing that I’d be meeting other fashion bloggers, I have to admit, before the event I spent quite some time thinking about what to wear (hehehe).

But after meeting everyone, the nerves had settled and I realised that it was refreshing to converse with other fashion bloggers who shared the same interests. Being new to the blogging scene, I sometimes question if I’m doing it right or if I should be doing things differently. However, after speaking with the more experienced bloggers (some with three years under their belt), it was reassuring to know that after all their years of experience, they too have their doubts.

On the day, I wanted to showcase an outfit that was my usual quirky and fun style. I wore a simple black dress over a long sleeve floral top with a black contrast peter pan collar. To make the colour of the top pop, I teamed the outfit with orange socks and cream brogues. To top it off, I accessorised with a black bowler hat.

I was so lucky to meet all these new fashion bloggers based in Sydney, and it was great to know that we could still stay in touch through different types of social media.

This experience, meeting fashion bloggers, sharing common interests and finding people alike who love fashion is the type of community you’ll find on WhantIWear.com

Did you want to be apart of a community who shares the same passion for fashion as you? Check out the website yourself and sign up at http://www.whatiwear.com/

Here are photos from the event courtesy of my photographer/partner YUNN CHIN :).

Kicking back in denim and chucks

Shorts – LuLu and Rose  |  Top – Supre  |  Jacket – Cotton On  |  Fluro Green Bra – Victoria Secret  |  Shoes – Converse  |  Hat – Stussy

It’s the weekend!!! It’s time to leave the button up shirts and pencil skirts at home and get into some comfortable Chucks.

For me, this weekend is all about chilling out, laying back and having fun. So what better way to start it then with the clothes that I’m wearing.

Looking back on my high school days, reminiscing on my past outfits, I realized how desperate I was to look older than my age (typical teenager). I couldn’t wait to rock the secretary look, well pretty much anything that wasn’t my uniform.  But now, working in an office with so many restrictions on what to wear, all I can think about wearing on the weekend is something comfortable and relaxed.

So keeping it simple and channelling my old hip-hop dancing days, I chucked on my Stussy hat, stone washed denim jacket and my red Converse chucks. It’s my perfect chilled back weekend outfit.

What’s your kick back weekend outfit?

Later this afternoon I’m going to an event called “ WhatIwear – fashion gathering” where you meet other fashion bloggers in Sydney and all lovers of fashion-http://www.facebook.com/events/483776591689569/

I can’t wait!!! Stay tuned this week for more details on the event 🙂

On Monday I’ll be posting more photos of the outfit I wore to the Tokyo Twerk launch so watch out for my post – Enjoy your weekend!!!

Shopping under a $100

Skirt – Alive Girl  |  Top – Supre  |  Shoes – Court Couture  |  Belt – Miss Shop  |  Earrings – Louisa

Hello everyone! Hope you guys enjoyed your Easter break. For the past 2 weeks I haven’t been posting as much since I’ve had a number of things to organise before the Easter break. The good news is, all the organising and preparation will be for the up-coming posts, which is going to be featured this week and next. So be sure to watch this space to see what I got up to over the Easter long weekend.

On a different note, for this post I wanted to feature an outfit that was under $100. Living out of home and studying kind of puts a strain on your savings and makes it difficult to treat yourself to a fresh new outfit. Luckily I picked up a few tips here and there when it comes to finding bargains with some quality items. With this outfit I spent a total of $70! Here’s the breakdown:

Skirt = $15 found at a small clothing store just outside of Chastwood station.

Top = $12 Supre. I’m not usually a fan of this store but they are the best place to get funky basics.

Shoes = $28 DSW (Direct Shoe Warehouse). This is also located at Chatswood, at the time they were having a sale; buy 2 and get one free.

Belt = $12 Myers. I waited till the Christmas sales and ended up getting 10% off this baby! It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing 🙂

Earrings = $3 Louisa. This store usually sporadically drop their prices, so I always keep an eye out for their sales.

So for those of you currently tight on money, you can still find some pretty decent bargains out there without spending a fortune. As Tammy Bakker always says “Shopping is cheaper than a psychiatrist.”

Do you know any great places to find a bargin?
