To get you guys updated, you haven’t heard from me in a bit because I have been working on some really special posts for the month of March, since it is…….*drum roll* THE 1ST BIRTHDAY OF FASHIONDICTION!!!! WOOT WOOT!

Outfit Post – Think Pink

Playsuit – Mink | Flats – Miss Shop

Photos taken by – Yunn Chin Photography

This October month has been all about the colour PINK for breast cancer awareness. Besides the fact that pink is my favourite colour, this month has hit close to home, with a family member passing away with cancer earlier this year.

“Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Australian women (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer).” http://canceraustralia.gov.au/healthy-living/campaigns-events/breast-cancer-awareness-month

The Australian community has done a big part in contributing to raising funds for research into the prevention and cure of breast cancer through fundraisers and events.

My work in particular hosted a high tea, raising money for the cause and encouraged everyone to wear pink last Friday.

At college there was pink to bee seen throughout the month and pink ribbon stalls were everywhere, at stations, malls and walkways.

Besides my small contribution I thought I would post up the outfit I wore earlier this month with the encouragement to wear pink.

Even though we are at the end of breast cancer awareness month, it’s not too late to contribute; for more information and to make a donation big or small, you can visit: http://www.nbcf.org.au/

Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Sydney – Trends (Romance Was Born)

Photographer – Yunn Chin

Out of the four nights of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival, my favourite runway show was without a doubt the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia – Trends. It was a runway show that gave the public a first look into the 2013 Spring and Summer trends from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week before it hits stores.
Over 200 looks from over 30 internationally recognised designers, jam-packed into one amazing runway show. So popular, it ran repeatedly for all four nights of the event.

Romance Was Born opened the show with romantic, cute and intricate dresses and jumpsuits which reminded me of Alice in Wonderland.
Once I saw these designs I immediately wanted to put down the camera because I was in complete awe of how amazing the designs were. I could swear I was salivating a little (hahaha gross I know); all I could think about was getting my hands on one of these dresses.
Even though there were so many crazy and memorable designs from the show, I have to admit that Romance Was Born definitely burnt a lasting impression in my mind.

My favourite piece out of the collection was the first dress. I died when I saw it! The transparent cotton candy pink floral print, the oversized Peter Pan collar, the subtle attachments of pom pom like flowers and the perfect distribution of puffed sleeves was enough to bring my excitement on overdrive.

I can’t wait to show you the rest of the gorgeous and diverse looks from the rest of the show, stay tuned :).

Fluro Aztec Oversized Cardigan

Oversized Cardigan – Boohoo | Disco Pants – American Apparel | Crop Too – Supre | Heels – Wandering souls | Belt – Vintage

Photographer – Yunn Chin

Wow! It’s been so long since I’ve posted an outfit.

I’m usually more excited to post about a photoshoot I’ve styled or an event I went to, which makes it surprising that I’m actually excited about an outfit post. (It’s probably just because it’s been a while since I’ve shared what’s in my closet)

Something this winter that I have recycled, reused and re-worn again and again is my fluro Aztec oversized cardigan. This past month has been unforgiving; cold, wet and grey skies but through it all, my cardigan has saved me from some miserable cold winter days and nights. Plus I bought it on sale, which makes it that much sweeter Woot Woot!

I wore this outfit over lunch with girlfriends and over the weekend. Even though the weather has been depressing, I’m a true believer of brightening up your day with some colour.

My favourite match with this cardigan is my lavender disco pants, the colours compliment each other so well.
Not to give people eyestrain with too much colour, I wore a basic black crop. Wearing an oversized throw over can make you look shorter so teaming it up with high-waist pants and a crop can compliment you length.
To balance the colours, I wore a bright peach belt and black tipped pumps.

I know for some, this cardigan may be to florescent for your liking, however, don’t be fooled by my crazy way of styling. To tame it down you can pair it with a basic LBD or black pants and a black top.

What item of clothing has kept you alive this winter? I’d love to know 😉

This week I’ll be posting the first bridal shoot I’ve styled, EXCITING!

Keep a look out on the behind the scenes photos which will be up soon.

Thanks for visiting 🙂

Sydney Fashion Weekend Part 1

Hello! Long time no post!

Sorry everyone! I know it’s been a whole week since I’ve posted compared to my usual 3 times a week update.

Last week was so crazy for me; I had assessments due, end of month deadline for work and a farewell. Not to mention Sydney Fashion Weekend and the first bridal photoshoot I’ve ever styled happened the week before.

Yeah, I was slightly overwhelmed but the good news is I have so much to update you on! Starting with SYDNEY FASHION WEEKEND!

Sydney Fashion Weekend is all about YOU! The shopaholics! They have everything a girl could want, great shopping at affordable prices, bubbly to share with the girls and a fashion show spread over four days; Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Me and Camille Sioco (www.frillyskirts.net) represented WhatIWear.com and Fashion blogger Jess Tuong came too representing her blog (www.mindbodyshop.com).

It was awesome, we got media passes for all access, totally the best!

This is the first time I’ve ever been so I had no idea what to expect. The moment we walked in, it was designer pop up shops everywhere…. It was like I had died and gone to fashion heaven!

Here’s a little taste of what Sydney Fashion Weekend was like.

Stay tuned this week to see photos of the fashion show, snaps of some stylish designers and people. I will also be giving you the inside scoop on the best day to go for discounts on designer clothes so don’t miss out!

Thanks for visiting 🙂

Fossil leather preview launch

For my 15th birthday I received my very first Fossil watch, it was given to me by my brother Erick and his girlfriend Elin. It was a pink-faced watch, with a delicate design and a wristband that resembled a silver bracelet. It was one of my most treasured gifts because I admired the people who had gifted it to me.

Through the years I have watched the Fossil brand grow and I admired from a far. When I had the money or if there was a special occasion I would happily splurge for a new watch.

Being a big fan of the brand, when I initially received the email invitation to attend the launch, I was convinced it was spam. I thought to myself “No, they wouldn’t know who I am”, so I casually brushed it aside.

It wasn’t until fashion blogger Camille asked me if I was attending, I all of a sudden realized that I was genuinely invited and got super excited :D. Thank goodness she asked or else I would have never went!

I attended the launch last Tuesday held at Alexandria Sydney, Vicinity Dining. The event was in an intimate private room secluded from the restaurant.

I assumed that I would be walking into a room full of watches, but to my surprise, there were a range of bags displayed.

The brand, which is moving into their 30th anniversary in 2014, is going into a different direction with their brand and products. Their current campaign is called “Make your mark”, using a lot of bold colours and graphics within their new designs.

We were lucky enough to be one of the first in Sydney to preview their new collection, which will be released in July – August and you guys also get a sneak peak :).

The preview was very interactive, allowing us to feel, touch and explore the new bags as they explained the design behind it.

Fossil will be releasing four lines of handbags and wallets, which will cater to most women who love functionality, lightweight bags with a vintage, quirky or fun design.

Fossil_Lauch-16

The line called “Key-Per” was initially brought out as a Christmas edition; however, it received such a big response that instead it was made available all year round and I can see why.

This line is perfect for anyone who is studying or enjoys fun, colourful designs (like me). It is functional with many storage pockets for the every day woman and made with coated canvas for those who prefer not to use leather.

This year’s design is based on pencil shavings, striped colours and polka dots. Reflecting Fossil’s humorous and quirky side. Plus the bags are so affordable with prices ranging from $129-$149.

Fossil_Lauch-7

Fossil_Lauch-8

Fossil_Lauch-9

Fossil will be focusing on 3 main lines, one of which is the “Memoir”. This line is for the women who appreciate more of a vintage design, inspired by the 1950’s.

With articulate hardware and beautiful interior, this vintage design comes in different shapes and sizes to suit anyone.

I usually don’t do much leopard print, however, I LOVE their leopard print used on the vintage designed bags. The Memoir ranges from $279-$299.

The second line that they are focusing on is the “Erin”. It’s functional, affordable with great hardware and has the best quality leather, signature to fossil.

The texture of the bag was so soft and smooth with a buttery leather feel; made with a lot pockets to store your everyday gadgets.

Initially I was a little unsure about this design, I was worried about the wear and tear of the bag due to its delicate texture, but don’t let this fool you. Because of the leather used, which is the best in the market, I learnt that the bag would look even better over time. With the best quality leather, the Erin line ranges to $149-$349.

Fossil_Lauch-6

The main line that Fossil is focusing on this year is the “Sydney”, which is my personal favourite out of the four.

The Sydney bags come in a multitude of colours; orange, plum (my favourite), teal, gold black etc. The designs are vintage inspired with a modern twist.

After handling the bag, it was surprisingly lightweight and durable, which is good because if your like me, my whole world is in my bag.

Fossil will also be concentrating on their new signature print, inspired by mid Century architecture. I personally love it!  I love the rhythm, colour and shapes used.

The Sydney line ranges from $149 – $279 ( so affordable! )

Fossil_Lauch-13

Not forgetting their watches, this year it is all about “Owning the wrist”. Fossil’s pieces are jewellery inspired, with bands ranging in fun colours that pop and with such feminine designs. They also have beautiful bracelets so you can layer it up with their new line of watches.

Vintage Christian Dior Bow-tie and the LBD

Shirt – SES  |  Dress – Blockout  |  Bow Tie – Christian Dior Vintage  |  Socks – Sportsgirl  |  Flats – Haute Couture

On Tuesday last week I had my first day of Fashion College, studying a Bachelor degree in Fashion Marketing.

Before this date so many things were going through my mind; what if the girls are bitchy, what if they don’t like me, what if they don’t like what I’m wearing. You can imagine I was very reluctant about what to wear and how to look.

I can get a little bit crazy with my wardrobe and I usually have the mentality of “I’ll wear whatever I want and I don’t care what anyone else thinks”.  This time however, I started to question if my crazy style was appropriate for the first day of collage. You know what they say first impressions are everything.

But then it dawned on me, I decided to study this course for me, for my future and my career, so why am I worrying about other people think. I realized I was worrying about something so insignificant and should really be worrying about getting the best marks possible.

That morning, I turned to my usual place of inspiration; my mood, what the weather was like and what item in my wardrobe I was dying to wear.

If you have followed me from the start, you would be familiar about my soft spot for bow ties. Personally, I love bow ties, especially my vintage Christian Dior, baby blue polka dot bowtie. The moment I laid eyes on this beauty, I was in love! So much so that it was worthy enough to claim the title of one of my favourite things in my large extensive wardrobe.

To complete the look I went with the classic black and white duo, a white polo t-shirt underneath a tight fitting LBD. To make the outfit different, I wore matching blue socks with black flats.

Despite the fact that I over think and imagine the worst possible case scenario, the first day was awesome. I made friends and now in the second week into it I’ve realized what a big difference it is to be doing something your passionate about.

What are you passionate about?

Subtle pops of colour

Dress – Blockout  |  Shirt – Chicabooti  |  Blazer – ASOS  |  Head Piece – Lovisa  |  Flats – Miss Shop

Happy Hump day everyone!

Sorry about the late post, there has been a slight delay with the remaining photos from the “Statements Photoshoot”. I promise part 2 will be released soon but the good news is I have a new outfit to post :).

Last Friday I attended an induction day for Raffles college, It was a day dedicated to new students who will be attending the college this year… like me 🙂 hehehe.

The last time I had studied was when I was fresh out of high school and did a fashion design course… that was almost 4 years ago. You can imagine the extreme change of lifestyle from being cooped up in an office cubicle to a full time student.

I decided that I would go to the induction day in attire that I was comfortable in, but still reflected the essence of fashion college life.

Keeping it basic, I wore a buttoned up collared shirt underneath a black tight fitting dress. On the day, I actually wore my rose-laced black bowtie but misplaced it for this photo shoot :(.  So instead I decided to feature my flower head piece, which I’ve been dying to wear.

For my signature pop of colour, I chose to team the basic black and white with a green blazer and pink flats.

Just a quick tip – layering a black dress with an open blazer, cardigan and jacket flatters your shape by making your figure look skinnier. That day, I wasn’t feeling the most attractive (shape wise). Wearing the blazer on top gave me that little boost of confidence.

Yesterday was my first day at Raffles college, so watch this space to see what I wore on my first day back as student.

Stay tuned for more photos from the Statements photoshoot, hopefully I’ll be able to post them up soon :).

See you guys on Saturday!!!

Bangs in Floral Print

Dress – BooHoo  |  Belt – Miss Shop  |  Socks – Sportsgirl  |  Heels – Wittner  |  Earings – Diva

The weekend before the last, Chin and I finally got our haircuts.

Years ago when we first met, I had crazy hair; blonde, shaved, boy cut, asymmetrical, you name it. I went through this phase where I changed my hair as often as I changed my clothes hehehe :).

Despite my crazy antics, early last year I decided I would grow my locks and back then, it was crazy short. Now, my hair is finally at a length that is easier to style. However, the months leading up to the cut, sucked! My hair was dry, crazy and unmanageable!

Naturally I have curly hair and before you say “Curly hair is so pretty”, trust me, you have not seen me in the morning. I literally look like I stuck my finger in a PowerPoint and if you don’t believe me, ask my roommates.

After many months of contemplating, constantly asking “how do I change my hair without loosing length?” I thought I would take it back to basics and rock the bangs.

I know I look like I’m 10 and getting this haircut will make me look leven younger.  But, lets face it; no matter how hard I try, I will not look a day over 16 (first world problems).

On the day, it was super sunny, I just couldn’t resist. I had to wear something as fun and bright. So, to rock the new do, I decided to flaunt my new floral print dress from BooHoo. To make the colours of the dress pop, I wore the same coloured accessories.

This outfit probably doesn’t help that fact that I look like a child but I’ve done my time trying to look older and it still doesn’t make much of a difference. In all honestly, I love bright colours, floral prints and cute looking outfits, that’s just me :).

Before I go, I thought I’d share a funny encounter Chin and I experienced when these shots were taken.

We were setting up for the shoot and some random guy comes up to us and says, “You guys doing a photoshoot?” I awkwardly responded with a “Yes?” and Chin cleverly replied, “ Nah man, we’re just hanging out”. Then the guy stood right next to Chin and when I say right next to him, I mean literally side by side. He then randomly starts posing, almost like he’s inviting us to take snaps of him.

Chin and I awkwardly try to move away but the guy just follows us and creepily watched us at a close distance………………..I MEAN, WHO DOES THAT?!

Taking photos for the blog is not easy, it can make you feel really uncomfortable and this is a prime example why HAHAHA!

For all the bloggers out there, has anything like this ever happen to you taking your photos?

Floral and polka dot prints in the country

Dress – Hipster  | Heels – Siren  | Hat – Jays Jays

Over the long Easter holiday some friends and I drove four and a half hours past Cowra (country town in NSW Australia) for a camping trip. We camped on my friend’s uncle’s 100-acre farm.

I’ve always thought of my self as a city girl, loving the concrete jungle that is Sydney CBD. So you can imagine, going all the way to a farm for camping was not my ideal way to spend my Easter break. However, I’m always up for a challenge and I can never say no to new experiences (since I’ve never actually gone camping).

From the on set of the trip, Chin (my boyfriend\my photographer) and I thought it would be a good idea to take advantage of the scenery out in the country. I imagined it to be like the scenes you see in films, with the dirt track road and some red soil like you see in the outback. This just shows how much I know about the Australian outback and the countryside (face palm). So, when we arrived at the farm it was completely different to what I had imagined. The scenery was so much more beautiful and no amount of photos we took would do the place justice. After an eventful 3 days and 2 nights with some amazing people, I’m already planning our next camping trip.

To suit the scene, I chose an outfit that reflected my portrayal of a country girl. I could have gone all the way with the boots and all but it just wouldn’t be my style without cute polka dots. I decided to keep the outfit simple wearing a floral print strapless dress and teaming it up with red polka dot heels. To add more of a country flare to it I topped the outfit off with a simple straw hat.

Over the coming weekend I’ll be posting more about my first camping adventures and you’ll get to see what other outfits I wore during the trip.

I was lucky enough to meet a make up artist during the camping trip, if your wondering who did my make up it was Lyn da. You can visit her on Facebook at – www.facebook.com/dollfacebylynda.

What did you get up to over the Easter break?
