The People of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney

Photos by – Yunn Chin Photography

Since our first Fashion Week, blogging life has been crazier than ever! Definitely a response that we did not expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised and humbled by the amount of people who have taken an interest in what we do :). The down side is I have not been able to move at such a rapid pace, thus the delayed posts.
After catching a breath from the chaos, I have been able to re-organise and finally work to getting these posts up to date, starting with this one, YAY!!!

The people of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney were both compelling and intriguing. I never imagined having the opportunity to attend such a celebrated event within the fashion world. In the past, I had imagined it as walking into what I would think is the equivalent of a dream like circus but in fashion. With gorgeous people who wore crazy outfits that were strange, aesthetically confusing, however, entertaining, shocking and at times humorous. I would never be able to make sense of why people would wear what they wore and the thought process behind it…..was it to seek attention, maybe?
It was not until I myself had attended the event, interacted, conversed and immersed myself in Fashion Week that I started to answer those questions.

What I had taken away from the eventful week was that the thought process behind each outfit, it was not for entertainment, earning the right for fashion exclusivity, nor gaining attention from the public or media (for most anyway). It was purely for self expression, creativity and making a personal statement of who you are through what you wore. There was a beauty about it, the concept of wearing what you wanted without the insecurities of boundaries and judgement, usually received from the public who easily misunderstands an individuals fashion choice. Fashion Week was a chance to be expressive, use fashion as a language and communicate with those who share that common understanding. I loved every minute of Fashion Week, it was like Christmas but in different sense hahaha!

Here are some of the styles that caught my eye, some of the people that inspire me and some of the people that I look up to who I had the pleasure of meeting 🙂

Which one is your favourite outfit?

Thanks for visiting and I’ll see you tomorrow with some long overdue outfit posts hehehe.

K is for Konnie, such a pleasure meeting a fellow fashion blogger who is so inspiring with her unique sense of style.

Margaret-Zhang

Who couldn’t forget the stunning Margaret Zhang from Shine By Three, so breathtakingly beautiful and every time I see here I get completely star struck and embarrass myself with unthought of jumbled words (*sigh, shakes head*). Besides the first embarrassing encounter I had with her, I thought It would be best to keep my distance hahaha!. Till next time, maybe I’ll have the guts to say hi again.

Of course my absolute favourite fashion blogger Nicole Warne from Gary Pepper Vintage. She is the epitome of beauty, inside and out, the very person who inspired me to start my road into fashion and the person who inspires me till this day. It was such a dream come true being in the presence of blogger royalty.

Last week at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival, I met the amazing Margaret Zhang. She was there style scouting for preview.Booodl.com.
She is one of the Fashion bloggers (blog –Shine by Three) that inspired me to start blogging not to mention she is so amazing and breathtakingly beautiful. So you can imagine how starstruck I was when I finally met her.

As soon as I saw her, I started hyperventilating like a teen girl meeting one of the boys from one direction (sorry, it’s the only comparison I could think of -.-‘). I tried to play it cool but in the corner of my eye I saw her coming towards me and as soon as she asked if she could take a photo of my outfit, everything went downhill from there.
My excitement quickly turned into uncontrollable word vomit, attacking her with overly excited sentences “I know you! I love all your outfits, you are amazing!” I could hear myself embarrassing myself and the little voice of reason told me to stop but I just couldn’t. It was like a train wreck that I just stood back and helplessly watched.

I’ve been kicking myself since and running it over and over again in my head, thinking about how I would of done it differently without embarrassing myself. But I guess on the bright side it has turned into a funny story to share.

So Margaret if you ever read this (which I don’t blame you if you don’t) sorry for the overly excited reaction and thank you for giving me such a memorable story to tell.

Here is a snap from the website preview.Booodl.com. It’s just a preview to their up and coming official site but they feature some pretty cool runway shows from the festival. Plus they have some interesting stuff on there which makes it worth checking it out.

I’ll be posting more photos on this outfit soon so keep a look out and next post I’ll be featuring the looks seen on the runway, so stay tuned.

Hope you guys enjoyed my embarrassing encounter with my equivalent to a celebrity.

Thanks for visiting 🙂
