Reebonz 1st Birthday Party Event

Reebonz in Sydney celebrated their first flagship store birthday and the launch of their new consignment service last month. Held at their flagship store just in front of Town Hall in the heart of Sydney CBD, I was so ecstatic to be attending another one of their amazing events and for their birthday celebrations and Reebonz did not all disappoint. Red carpet, luxury bags, celebrity bloggers, not to mention being greeted by an abundance of vibrant flowers and did I mention there was CAKE!!!! (hahahaha such a glutton).

It honestly felt like I had died and gone to a heaven filled with YSL, Celine, Hermés, Chanel, served endless canapés, champaign and continuous blossoming roses. Everyone was so lovely (which, is nothing more than I would expect from the Reebonz organizers who are kind hearted and genuinely lovely people), the environment was so welcoming and warm I almost didn’t want to leave….EVER! hehehe!

Elle Ferguson and Tash Sefton from They all Hate Us hosted the event and though I was far to shy to introduce myself, I saw how down to earth and kind they were. Camille from Frilly Skirts, was also at the event and she was the CUTEST when she introduced herself to them, I swear she was so overwhelmed but they ended up taking selfies with her. See, I told you they were lovely!!!

For the event Reebonz even had their very own fashion show with the beautiful models wearing all but white, strutting around with Reebonz finest on their arms. This event was actually the first time I had to ride solo without my photographer/partner and OH did I feel naked hahaha! I have just recently started taking photography in my fashion course and he thought it would be a good time to throw me in the deep end eeek! hahaha! I apologise for some of the photos, all the good ones are officially Reebonz photos (thank goodness to that!). I’m slowly getting better so hopefully in my future posts you’ll see some improvement hehehe.

Finally Happy Birthday to Reebonz and lets have many more to come!!

Thank you again for visiting and I’ll see you this weekend with an outfit post 😉

Outfit Post- My Truth Behind Fashion Week

Photos by – Yunn Chin Photography

It is a daunting thing going to Fashion Week as a new blogger, I found myself asking so many questions; what do I do, what do I say, how do I start a conversation and most importantly WHAT WAS I GOING TO WEAR!!!!?

What was even more intimidating was that I didn’t know anyone going, except for my boyfriend/photographer Chin, who would be in the media pit for most of Fashion Week taking the photos for the runway shows.
I found myself questioning everything about myself; the way I talk, the way I act, my style, I was even insecure about how I laughed.  I mean, yes…… I know I have the tendency to overthink and stress about nothing but this was a probably the biggest event that I have ever gone to and studying fashion, I was not going to take it lightly.

I had always seen myself as someone who is quite confident, comfortable in my own skin and not caring much about what someone else thinks, however, this was such a true test to my character. I had felt like it was the first day of high school all over again, wanting so badly to be accepted and to fit in. By the second day, all these insecurities had taken a toll on me emotionally, I had realised that I was trying so hard to fit in that I started to loose sight of the personality that I so proudly wore and the self expressive style which made me feel comfortable in my own skin. Even Chin noticed a uncomfortable change in me, I mean, what can I say, when you are surrounded by so many gorgeous people and models with a flawless aesthetic and impeccable style the feeling of insignificance is inevitable. I am so grateful though that I had him there, he reminded me about what was important and the reason I had taken the time out to commit myself to the event. I was able to shake myself out of it and start anew, without having such expectations weighing so heavily on me.

The third day into Fashion Week, I woke up that morning and stopped caring about what other people thought of me. Instead, I did what I wanted to do, wore what I wanted to wear and laughed the way I wanted to laugh (even though sometimes I sound like a dying donkey hahaha!). I realised that I wasn’t questioning myself, because of the way people treated me or the way they judged me, if anything most people were down to earth and really easy to approach. It was me being my own enemy; I was the one who was holding myself back and I was the one who started to change myself into what I thought would be accepted when all along it was fine being myself. Once again my insecurities had almost gotten the best of me but this time I’d like to think of myself as the victor.

I guess what I’m trying to share with you is that, just like everyone else’s life, everything is not always rainbows and butterflies and I would be lying if I said I was perfect. In my previous posts I have shared with you what I had seen at Fashion Week and who I had met, I thought it was also important to be truthful and share how I had felt during the whole experience. It was such an amazing opportunity and what I personally took away from Fashion Week was that it is important to stay true to who you are, stay grounded and don’t be afraid to be you. You know what they say “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”

Anyways, enough of the serious chatter, now for some visual communication, here are the outfits I wore at Fashion Week, There is one more outfit that I will be posting from that week so keep an eye out for it 🙂

Thanks again for visiting everyone and I hope have an amazing weekend !!!

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney – Day 4 and 5

LAN YU

Lan Yu’s bridal gowns were absolutely Stunning!

The gowns were displayed on elevated boxes through a live installation allowing the viewer to walk around the designs. A mix of live models and mannequins were used to display the gorgeous gowns. Each of the 12 gowns represented a star sign, all beautifully designed with intricate fabrication, delicate beading and lace. We had the pleasure to attend the Lan Yu after party where we were able to view the gowns in closer detail.

The designs were simply amazing, I loved every single gown and I especially enjoyed the interactive installation in contrast to the typical runway show.

I had the great pleasure to meet the insanely talented designer Lan Yu and she was just as gorgeous as her gowns; incredibly graceful and elegant.

JAYSON BRUNSDON

‘Rio’ A collection filled with jacquard and silk dresses, with shimmer tones of earthy colours; this is a collection I adore. Exotically wild with golds, coppers, sequences and feathers; designs that translates the fun and the tropical environment of Brazil.

It was truly a breath of difference compared to the designs I had seen throughout fashion week.

MACGRAW

Oh MACGRAW how I adore you!!!

The peter pan collars, the puffed sleeves, the polka dots, the stripes, the print on print, everything about this collection is GORGEOUS!
This collection was one of the few that I could see myself wearing everyday. Current, youthful, fun, relatable and cute, I simply must have it all hahahaha!

IXIAH

I have so much love for this label!!!

The amazing designer behind Ixiah, Krystel Davis never ceases to amaze.
I have followed Ixiah for some time now and WOW! It has grown into an astonishing label with such a unique aesthetic, standing apart from the rest.
Debuting for the first time in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Ixiah pulled out all the stops with their signature detailing, tribal aesthetic, incredible fabrication teamed with bold and strong silhouettes.

It was incredible!

AJE

Reflecting on Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Aje by far had one of the best displays. A live installation showcasing their designs through live models blissfully relaxing around and under a Sahara-like cabana.
Peekaboo sheer fabrics with lace and detailed floral beading, the designs were beautiful.
We were able to walk around the collection and look at the designs closely whilst champagne and canapés were served. Viewers were able to freely converse about the collection, it was an interesting change of environment compared to the intense atmosphere at a runway show.

SONG FOR THE MUTE

Song for the Mute closed the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week with a daring and edgy Men’s collection. Grey tones with black and white layered aesthetic teamed with ribbed and textured coats. It was also interesting to see Lupe Fiasco close the show and he did it with such attitude and swag that only a Rapper embodies.

Masculine, intense, dark and structured designs; it was a great way to end our first Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney – The Innovators

Photos by – Yunn Chin Photography

CARLA NOLAN

Dinosaurs, bright coloured reptile prints in contrasting pastels against black, irregular cuts and silhouettes. This reminded me of the prehistoric times, visually engaging and edgy.

LOGVIN CODE

Textural overload with tassel like fabrication, geometric shapes and lines creating a futuristic aesthetic.

HAYLEY DAWSON

Vest and coat dresses combined with dungarees, subtle colours against cream and black; a great balance between street wear and formal elements.

BEINA WEI

Minimalistic, bold, structural, strong feminine silhouettes with in interesting use of metallic wrinkled like fabric. I loved everything about this collection from the matte visors, the clear clutches, the cute crops to the pale pink skorts.

KIAYA DANIELS

What interested me the most about this collection was the simplified child like drawing print, which was almost reminiscent of a Brett Whiteley drawing.

YOUSEF AKBAR

The vibrant use of gradient colours in uniquely structured garments held together with clear bolts and clear square belts made this was one of the most visually engaging collections from the Innovators show.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney – Day 3

Photos by – Yunn Chin Photography

Hello Everyone!!!

We were hoping to post the photos from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week on the week of the event but since it is our first time editing thousands of images, there has been a slight delay HEHEHE.

Day 3 of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was just as crazy as the first 2 days.

We saw a total of 5 runway shows:

TALULAH

The Swim & Resort “Crystal Tropics” Spring /2014 collection presents a visual bohemian story, filled with soft feminine silhouettes, strong graphics; geometric and organic prints on silk fabrics and tasseled finishes.

A collection with playful shorts, one-pieces, cute separates, girly maxis and kaftans, styled with big beaded layers statement necklaces. Bold floral and leopard prints, pastels against black and navy with strong warm tones. The pieces are an essential to have for spring and summer.

LEROY NGUYEN

I was really excited to see Leroy Nguyen’s runway collection, from what I’ve seen from him in the past, his collections are bold, beautifully youthful, colourful and fun.
2014’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is Leroy Nguyen’s first stand-alone runway show and we see a different stylistic collection compared to the ones before it.

“Blue Rose” a collection inspired by the memorable fantasy movie “Pan’s Labyrinth”. Projected cool tones through baby blue pastels, royal blues, touches of purples and pinks. Rose prints and cuts really brings the designers “Blue Rose” concept to light.

CAMEO

Cameo is one of my favourite labels!
When I found out that their “Boggie Nights” collection would be presented at Fashion Week, I was determined not to miss it.
The Angular edges, minimalistic prints, beautiful green tones, lace and sheer textures.
Mature, strong and feminine silhouettes, Cameo always has a unique aesthetic to their designs, which you can spot from a mile away.

MATICEVSKI

Maticevski, Maticevski, MATICEVSKI! The more I see of Toni Maticevski’s designs, the more in love I fall. Everything about the collection; the colour, to the structure, the monochromatic prints, the bold midi skirts and the coats, oh the coats!!!!

GALANNI

Wildly romantic, flawless, elegant designs that shout the essence of pure glamour. It was a great way to end our third day into Fashion Week.

Wish – ‘Wait For Sunrise’

Here is a sneak peak for the new winter collection for Wish – “Wait for Sunrise”!!
I have always loved their dresses but this recent collection has by far stood out to me the most.

Living on a student budget, the key thing I look for when I purchase items is its diverse aesthetic, how many different ways it can be styled and how many times it can be worn (especially items that are slightly out of my budget).
Although, I do love my girly floral prints, big filly skirts and cute lacy tops, I also love mixing it up with sporty street wear (the hidden tomboy in me 😉 ), without loosing the femininity in my style and this collection is exactly that.

Each piece can be taken and adapted perfectly into so many different personal styles, from casual to chic and it can be worn from day to night.
The dresses keep that sweet feminine touch with the structure, print, cut and lines. However, the separates are cool and edgy, with an urban aesthetic.

It is definitely a collection full of pieces that I can see myself exhausting, both wearing it for work and my college life.

Keep a look out for it HERE!

What do you guys think of Wish’s new winter collection?

CASPER & PEARL RELEASE AW14 COLLECTION: SWEET HEART HIGH

Casper and Pearl has always been a label that have admired from a far, simply because when you’re a student, you are limited by the fashion items that you can afford and if I am being completely honest….I’m pretty poor LOL! (This explains why you see me scoring so much stuff on sale). Never the less, this has never stopped me from putting items even as little as under $100 on my wish list, Casper and Pearl being one of those labels.

The label recently released a new collection ‘Sweet Heart High’, one of there biggest ones yet, with everything that I look for in a future purchase: Fun, bright, colorful floral prints with matching separates and cute preppy dresses. The collections is also mixed with some sporty items for those who aren’t 100% into floral prints, giving it the right medium between girly and sporty chic.

Check out the new collection here 🙂

Outfit Post – Shopping on a tight budget

Photos by – Yunn Chin Photography

Just before we immerse ourselves in the Christmas sprit, I thought I would do a quick outfit post; this was an outfit I wore to the Ixiah store launch.

When I’m short on cash I get a bit more creative with the choices I make when I shop. I usually find a piece that looks somewhat classic or interesting and dress it up with accessories or style it with other pieces that compliment each other.

With Christmas just around the corner I was running short on cash. This outfit cost me a total of $70, the shoes are old but when I purchased it, they was on sale for $50 at Sheraton shoes and the dress was only $20 at some cheap dress store on Church Street in Parramatta.

The floral printed dress was too much to accessorise with necklaces and earrings since I only have loud jewellery pieces. Instead I thought I would go with print on print, with no accessories, very light makeup and a coloured lippy. The red polka dot printed shoes complimented the dress bringing out the pops of red through the blue.

Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you all have a lovely Christmas!!!
