LAN YU

Lan Yu’s bridal gowns were absolutely Stunning!

The gowns were displayed on elevated boxes through a live installation allowing the viewer to walk around the designs. A mix of live models and mannequins were used to display the gorgeous gowns. Each of the 12 gowns represented a star sign, all beautifully designed with intricate fabrication, delicate beading and lace. We had the pleasure to attend the Lan Yu after party where we were able to view the gowns in closer detail.

The designs were simply amazing, I loved every single gown and I especially enjoyed the interactive installation in contrast to the typical runway show.

I had the great pleasure to meet the insanely talented designer Lan Yu and she was just as gorgeous as her gowns; incredibly graceful and elegant.

JAYSON BRUNSDON

‘Rio’ A collection filled with jacquard and silk dresses, with shimmer tones of earthy colours; this is a collection I adore. Exotically wild with golds, coppers, sequences and feathers; designs that translates the fun and the tropical environment of Brazil.

It was truly a breath of difference compared to the designs I had seen throughout fashion week.

MACGRAW

Oh MACGRAW how I adore you!!!

The peter pan collars, the puffed sleeves, the polka dots, the stripes, the print on print, everything about this collection is GORGEOUS!
This collection was one of the few that I could see myself wearing everyday. Current, youthful, fun, relatable and cute, I simply must have it all hahahaha!

IXIAH

I have so much love for this label!!!

The amazing designer behind Ixiah, Krystel Davis never ceases to amaze.
I have followed Ixiah for some time now and WOW! It has grown into an astonishing label with such a unique aesthetic, standing apart from the rest.
Debuting for the first time in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Ixiah pulled out all the stops with their signature detailing, tribal aesthetic, incredible fabrication teamed with bold and strong silhouettes.

It was incredible!

AJE

Reflecting on Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Aje by far had one of the best displays. A live installation showcasing their designs through live models blissfully relaxing around and under a Sahara-like cabana.
Peekaboo sheer fabrics with lace and detailed floral beading, the designs were beautiful.
We were able to walk around the collection and look at the designs closely whilst champagne and canapés were served. Viewers were able to freely converse about the collection, it was an interesting change of environment compared to the intense atmosphere at a runway show.

SONG FOR THE MUTE

Song for the Mute closed the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week with a daring and edgy Men’s collection. Grey tones with black and white layered aesthetic teamed with ribbed and textured coats. It was also interesting to see Lupe Fiasco close the show and he did it with such attitude and swag that only a Rapper embodies.

Masculine, intense, dark and structured designs; it was a great way to end our first Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney – Raffles International Showcase

WILL BE.

By William Brunton – Sydney

It was a great way to start the show with a men’s collection, the audience didn’t mind either hahaha!
Blocks and panels of basic black, white and grey used with a simplified print, which resembles stone paving. Masculine suit elements with casual street wear and slippers made an interesting and unexpected combination.
Though it was only men’s wear that was showcased I was pleased to hear that the collection is also available for women :).

ASANOVSKI

The use of textural fabrication and the structural silhouettes was highly intriguing. Calculated geometric cuts, transparent pops, minimalistic design created a modern and futuristic aesthetic.

Romantic prints with touches of peek-a-boo sheer, frills and florals, this collection was playfully girly, feminine, whimsical and cute. Especially loving the touch of red lipstick in contrast to the baby blues and whites.

OPHELIE
By Sean and Sheila – Singapore

Elegantly edgy and high class, this oriental gold and black collection inspired by the Japanese Yakuza and uniform element inspired structure, left a big impression leaving me speechless. The embroidery, the lace, the pin stripes, the different use of fabrics and the structured lines, every bit of the collection was perfect!

Outfit Post – Mini Road Trip

HIS  T-shirt – LRG | Shoes- LRG | Hat – LRG

HELLO :)!!!

I know this post is exactly a week late; unfortunately I was completely bedridden with a sinus virus last week and for the life of me I could not even lift a finger.

Finally out of my prison of immobility, I’m super excited to share this outfit post with you all!

A couple of weekends ago, Chin and I decided to do a mini road trip to Wollongong, a city that is a 2-hour drive away from Sydney.

It was a really hot summer day, so I thought I would wear something fun, casual and girly. I managed to pull out this old silk, crochet trimmed crop, which I have had for almost 6 years and paired it with high-waisted shorts.
The piping on the shorts, visually adds length to your legs and having longer looking legs is never a bad thing, am I right ladies? hehehe.

I matched the crop with fun laced flats and wore light make up to give it more of that summer feel (to be honest, I hate wearing a lot of make up in summer, because of the hot weather, it just feels like my face has melted off by the end of the day hahahaha).

It was a super fun day; we also visited the Nan Tien Temple, which I thought was absolutely beautiful! Next time your in Wollongong I’d definitely recommend checking it out :).

Now, I mentioned before in my previous posts, that taking photos in front of a big camera in public is very daunting. No matter how many times I do it, I never seem to completely get use to it.
So with this outfit post, Chin and I thought we would try something different; we brought along the camera and decided to do a impromptu shoot.
Between you and me, it was so much better than standing in front of a camera and “posing”. I’ve said it before; I am not in anyway shape or form a model, so this way of taking photos was more in my comfort zone. It was a more realistic view into how I am and how I wear my clothes.

With that said, every now and then we will be doing these types of photos, just to spice things up.

Thanks for visiting!
I’ll see you on Thursday and I promise this time I won’t be sick to miss it 😉

New Fossil Store Launch QVB

Photos by – Yunn Chin Photography (unless otherwise stated)

Fossil has done it again! They have opened another amazing store in one of Sydney’s shopping destinations, the Queen Victoria Building.

For those of you who have just tuned in, I am a big longtime lover of Fossil and I was especially excited when they had invited me to their Leather Preview Launch earlier this year in May.
So as soon as I got the invite to attend the store launch, I was even more excited that I found myself counting the days down to the event (bit embarrassing to admit).

Held on the 11th of December, it was all class; live Jazz music, the best finger food I have ever tasted (I had eaten before hand too, so you know it’s good when your eating on a full stomach), incredible mojitos served in jam jars, chocolate covered strawberries and great company.

The store set up was so cute! Against the back of the counter wall, there were Christmas tins aesthetically sequenced. I’m devastated that I didn’t get to take a photo of it but it is something you will need to see for yourself.

We were fortunate enough to get a first look on the latest Holiday ‘Season of Enchantment’ collections and there was even a live artist who created custom designed tins. Check out more of his work on Instagram under @skullavera

Fossil has always produced such great quality products laced with an authentic vintage feel through their designs and hardware.
We see through their collections a modern twist on their recent designs. Creating more of a fun, edgy look, however, still staying true to their original vintage aesthetic and because of this, I am always going to be a big fan!

Check out their new store just in time for the end of the year sales at –

Ixiah Store Launch

Photos taken by – Yunn Chin Photography

If you remember Last Month on the blog, Ixiah, an unbelievable label released their Resort 13-14 summer collection.

For those of you who have just tuned in; Ixiah is a label I came across for the first time at Fashion Weekend and immediately fell in love with the unique, intricate and gorgeous designs from designer Krystel Davis.

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to their very own store launch at level 1 Mid City Centre, Pitt St. in Sydney. I was so excited for the event, I couldn’t wait to see the collection up close and personal, plus I had my eye on this stunning Aztec print maxi dress hehehe.

The set up was incredible! From the layered necklaces and neckpieces to the simplest strand on a garment, the pieces on the mirrored manikins were styled to absolute perfection. There is so much personality and difference in the designs of the collection and it was so beautifully translated through the layout of the store. The staff was so kind and welcoming, already a handful of people at the event were trying on pieces from the collection.

I also got to meet the designer behind the label, the incredibly talented Krystel Davis. I had spent the night trying to work up the courage to speak to her. Chin (partner/photographer) was so surprised, he said “You’ve never been like this before” and he was right! Usually I just go for it, however, this time I came down with a case of being starstuck. Just before I left I finally snuck in a somewhat nervous conversation, she was gorgeous, amazing and so sweet!

The collection will only be temporarily open to the public at their pop up store in level 1 Mid City Centre, Pitt St. in Sydney. So as soon as I get my Christmas shopping out of the way I will be back with a vengeance and shop to my hearts content.

Here are some snaps from the event:

The models were amazingly styled, they seriously looked like amazons, and as usual  I look tiny next to them hehehe.

Ixiah_opening_05With the designer Krystel Davis, she looked absolutely stunning in her very own designs. I especially loved how the necklaces were layered and used as an accessory over her heels…..amazing.

Thank you again for stopping by and stay tuned on my next outfit post 😉

Have a good weekend!

Outfit Post – Summer calls for a new change

Top – Agent ninetynine General Pants | Skirt – Paper Heart   Mink | Sandals –  Bonbons Wanted | Retro Sunglasses – Marc by Marc Jacobs

Photos taken by – Yunn Chin Photography

I know you guys are use to seeing me with my hair straight with a full fringe like in my previous outfit posts but recently I’ve been dying for a change!

I am trying to grow it out at the moment, so to resist cutting it and prolonging the process of growth by killing my hair with bleach; I thought it would be best to wear my hair naturally.

Yup, my hair is naturally curly …It’s kind of weird because it wasn’t always curly; I was born with straight hair but for some reason in my teens my mother’s genes kicked in then BAM! One day I woke up with a head full of curls.
I haven’t given up the full fringe yet; I might go back to it when I get bored wearing my hair naturally.

There is also an upside to wearing my hair curly, it literally takes me 5 minutes to fix my hair since I no longer have to straighten it 🙂
Plus I find the curls suit summer clothes for the hot weather in Sydney (However, the past couple of days it has been more humid then sunny -.-‘) Just a secret between you and me, my forehead would get crazy sweaty under that fringe in hot weather, so I think I choose a good time to give the fringe a break for now hehehe.

Speaking of Summer, I’m so ready to hit the beach, bring out the shorts, skirts, singlets and dresses. Like this awesome skirt that I bought a couple of weeks ago, totally loving it at the moment! I’ve been wearing it with plain tops like white and black basics, perfect for casual days and not to mention teaming it with the occasional pop of colour. It even got featured as a “look of the day” at my college Woot Woot! Check it out on my Instagram under the photos I’ve been tagged in – @fashiondiction

What about you, are you looking at making any changes to your style or hair due to the weather?

Sydney Fashion Weekend Runway

I’ve been meaning to post this for quite sometime, however, in the past couple of weeks reality had hit hard with assessments, bills and work. I had underestimated the full power of stress during assessments; it has been 5 years since I’ve studied full time.

I had contemplated if I should post this at all, since fashion weekend was some time ago but then I thought it would be a complete waste if I didn’t. Plus I didn’t want you guys to miss out on the trends that weekend. So as promised here it is…

Run_Sheet

Bec and Bridge

Known for their affordable, modern and chic designs, Bec and Bridge did not disappoint, showcasing; leather, prints and lace on the runway. All favourable trends this year.

The “Sorrento Midi Dress”, evidently sophisticated with a vibrant, eye catching print, was my favourite from their Winter/Fall “Paradiso Bianco Capsule 12/13” collection.

The earthy tones and the infamous hat used in this collection, visually reminded me of the Wild West. I simply loved the navy jumpsuit styled with the hat.

A mixture of warm and cool colours, denim and soft fabrics, makes this collection a breath of fresh air.

Ixiah

This was the first time I had ever seen or heard of Ixiah and I fell in love! Their sophisticated clean lines seen in their co-ordinates and how their unique patterned silk flowed down the runway; what’s not to love!

Ixiah’s 2013 winter collection “Inscription” is definitely a collection I can see myself wearing.

In his 2012/2013 Spring collection, we see soft beige, pinks and creams, along with sheer, soft and shimmer fabrics. Displaying his signature feminine designs accentuating the female figure.

Hussy

This is a label that grew familiar with during high school and till now hussy manages to bring modern and feminie designs with a touch of edge.

The dress that caught my eye in this collection was the black one sleeve dress, with a shimmer top. The asymmetrical one shoulder trend is seen through the collection.

True to its brand, the collection featured free spirited bohemian chic designs.

I loved their vibrant warm prints with floral designed patterns and trims. Their paring of the brown boots with the collection was a perfect fit; it showed how versatile their long dresses are, allowing you to wear the designs from day to night.

This was my absolute favourite out of the 10 collections shown. Showcasing cute peplum skirts with playful stripes and girly floral prints on dresses that accentuate the female form.

Using soft beige, mint, baby pink colours with a hint of metallic was the icing on the cake for their collection. I adored these designs so much that after the show I bought pieces from their 2012 summer collection.

Converted to a new follower, I can’t wait to see their new creations in their upcoming collections.

Christensen Copenhagen

This collection from Christensen Copenhagen was the right blend of sophisticated classy and chic. The outfits and dresses shown in the collection were prefect for day and nightwear.

The opening outfit was a metallic royal blue blazer and pant co-ordinate, which was incredibly stylish and edgy. I especially loved the modern geometric monochrome dress.

However, the stand out was the knitwear vest, styled with a simple white blouse worn underneath, leather pants and classic black hat. The collection was a prefect visual to conclude the 10 designer collections showcased in Sydney Fashion Weekend.

Fossil leather preview launch

For my 15th birthday I received my very first Fossil watch, it was given to me by my brother Erick and his girlfriend Elin. It was a pink-faced watch, with a delicate design and a wristband that resembled a silver bracelet. It was one of my most treasured gifts because I admired the people who had gifted it to me.

Through the years I have watched the Fossil brand grow and I admired from a far. When I had the money or if there was a special occasion I would happily splurge for a new watch.

Being a big fan of the brand, when I initially received the email invitation to attend the launch, I was convinced it was spam. I thought to myself “No, they wouldn’t know who I am”, so I casually brushed it aside.

It wasn’t until fashion blogger Camille asked me if I was attending, I all of a sudden realized that I was genuinely invited and got super excited :D. Thank goodness she asked or else I would have never went!

I attended the launch last Tuesday held at Alexandria Sydney, Vicinity Dining. The event was in an intimate private room secluded from the restaurant.

I assumed that I would be walking into a room full of watches, but to my surprise, there were a range of bags displayed.

The brand, which is moving into their 30th anniversary in 2014, is going into a different direction with their brand and products. Their current campaign is called “Make your mark”, using a lot of bold colours and graphics within their new designs.

We were lucky enough to be one of the first in Sydney to preview their new collection, which will be released in July – August and you guys also get a sneak peak :).

The preview was very interactive, allowing us to feel, touch and explore the new bags as they explained the design behind it.

Fossil will be releasing four lines of handbags and wallets, which will cater to most women who love functionality, lightweight bags with a vintage, quirky or fun design.

Fossil_Lauch-16

The line called “Key-Per” was initially brought out as a Christmas edition; however, it received such a big response that instead it was made available all year round and I can see why.

This line is perfect for anyone who is studying or enjoys fun, colourful designs (like me). It is functional with many storage pockets for the every day woman and made with coated canvas for those who prefer not to use leather.

This year’s design is based on pencil shavings, striped colours and polka dots. Reflecting Fossil’s humorous and quirky side. Plus the bags are so affordable with prices ranging from $129-$149.

Fossil_Lauch-7

Fossil_Lauch-8

Fossil_Lauch-9

Fossil will be focusing on 3 main lines, one of which is the “Memoir”. This line is for the women who appreciate more of a vintage design, inspired by the 1950’s.

With articulate hardware and beautiful interior, this vintage design comes in different shapes and sizes to suit anyone.

I usually don’t do much leopard print, however, I LOVE their leopard print used on the vintage designed bags. The Memoir ranges from $279-$299.

Fossil_Lauch-2

Fossil_Lauch-27

Fossil_Lauch-26

Fossil_Lauch-4

Fossil_Lauch-1

Fossil_Lauch-5

The second line that they are focusing on is the “Erin”. It’s functional, affordable with great hardware and has the best quality leather, signature to fossil.

The texture of the bag was so soft and smooth with a buttery leather feel; made with a lot pockets to store your everyday gadgets.

Initially I was a little unsure about this design, I was worried about the wear and tear of the bag due to its delicate texture, but don’t let this fool you. Because of the leather used, which is the best in the market, I learnt that the bag would look even better over time. With the best quality leather, the Erin line ranges to $149-$349.

Fossil_Lauch-6

The main line that Fossil is focusing on this year is the “Sydney”, which is my personal favourite out of the four.

The Sydney bags come in a multitude of colours; orange, plum (my favourite), teal, gold black etc. The designs are vintage inspired with a modern twist.

After handling the bag, it was surprisingly lightweight and durable, which is good because if your like me, my whole world is in my bag.

Fossil will also be concentrating on their new signature print, inspired by mid Century architecture. I personally love it!  I love the rhythm, colour and shapes used.

The Sydney line ranges from $149 – $279 ( so affordable! )

Fossil_Lauch-13

Fossil_Lauch-11

Not forgetting their watches, this year it is all about “Owning the wrist”. Fossil’s pieces are jewellery inspired, with bands ranging in fun colours that pop and with such feminine designs. They also have beautiful bracelets so you can layer it up with their new line of watches.
