Reebonz 1st Birthday Party Event

Reebonz in Sydney celebrated their first flagship store birthday and the launch of their new consignment service last month. Held at their flagship store just in front of Town Hall in the heart of Sydney CBD, I was so ecstatic to be attending another one of their amazing events and for their birthday celebrations and Reebonz did not all disappoint. Red carpet, luxury bags, celebrity bloggers, not to mention being greeted by an abundance of vibrant flowers and did I mention there was CAKE!!!! (hahahaha such a glutton).

It honestly felt like I had died and gone to a heaven filled with YSL, Celine, Hermés, Chanel, served endless canapés, champaign and continuous blossoming roses. Everyone was so lovely (which, is nothing more than I would expect from the Reebonz organizers who are kind hearted and genuinely lovely people), the environment was so welcoming and warm I almost didn’t want to leave….EVER! hehehe!

Elle Ferguson and Tash Sefton from They all Hate Us hosted the event and though I was far to shy to introduce myself, I saw how down to earth and kind they were. Camille from Frilly Skirts, was also at the event and she was the CUTEST when she introduced herself to them, I swear she was so overwhelmed but they ended up taking selfies with her. See, I told you they were lovely!!!

For the event Reebonz even had their very own fashion show with the beautiful models wearing all but white, strutting around with Reebonz finest on their arms. This event was actually the first time I had to ride solo without my photographer/partner and OH did I feel naked hahaha! I have just recently started taking photography in my fashion course and he thought it would be a good time to throw me in the deep end eeek! hahaha! I apologise for some of the photos, all the good ones are officially Reebonz photos (thank goodness to that!). I’m slowly getting better so hopefully in my future posts you’ll see some improvement hehehe.

Finally Happy Birthday to Reebonz and lets have many more to come!!

Thank you again for visiting and I’ll see you this weekend with an outfit post 😉

Wish Style Challenge ‘Winter In The City’ Event

I’m so glad I’m finally on holidays and relieved from assessments, along with stress from work due to the end of financial year. I can finally unwind, relax and catch up on my much loved blogging!!! Staring with the Wish Style Challenge event I had the honour of attending late last month.

With Wish releasing their amazing winter collection, a competition called “Winter in The City” was held by the clothing label early May. With the support of Honda Australia, the challenge was to style a piece of the Wish winter collection in your own way. With some of Australia’s best up and coming fashion bloggers taking part, the calibre of entries were simply sublime.

I was so happy to attend the event held in such an amazing venue with canapés and frequent flowing drinks (hahaha I can never complain when 2 of my vices have been answered).

wish 6

Bloggers from all over Australia in Perth Canberra and Melbourne attended to celebrate the event and the atmosphere was so eccentric leading up to the announcement of the winner, the prize being a HONDA CITY…. SAY WHAT?!!!

Out of the many who entered, the 3 carefully selected finalists styling such stunning looks were:

Angeline from Lovethread

wish love thred

Charlotte from Winston and Willow

wish winston and willow

Kiara from  Lion in The Wild

wish lion in the wild

Kiara King was announced the winner taking home the Honda City. WOOT WOOT!!!

wish 3wish 4

I have never really been to such a big event with so many talent and amazing bloggers, it can be a super intimidating experience and if you know me personally you know how awkward I get hahaha! I’m so glad I had Camille from from Frilly Skirts there, since we met the first time last year at another event, I’ve spent time with her and her incredibly talented photographer/blogger boyfriend Ramon and now I see them both as my really dear friends.

wish 2

It was such a fun night and I am so grateful to Wish for organising an incredible event. Everyone was so nice and friendly, there was even a small dance floor; I was dropping it like it was hot all night, Hahahaha! not really but it was still super fun to get our dance on!

This is why I love going to these events and meeting people that share the same interests and experiences, it is something I truly appreciate about the blogging world and the blogging community. I can’t wait for the next Wish Style Challenge!!!

Thanks for visiting !!

I’ll see you soon with another event post 😉

Outfit Post- My Truth Behind Fashion Week

Photos by – Yunn Chin Photography

It is a daunting thing going to Fashion Week as a new blogger, I found myself asking so many questions; what do I do, what do I say, how do I start a conversation and most importantly WHAT WAS I GOING TO WEAR!!!!?

What was even more intimidating was that I didn’t know anyone going, except for my boyfriend/photographer Chin, who would be in the media pit for most of Fashion Week taking the photos for the runway shows.
I found myself questioning everything about myself; the way I talk, the way I act, my style, I was even insecure about how I laughed.  I mean, yes…… I know I have the tendency to overthink and stress about nothing but this was a probably the biggest event that I have ever gone to and studying fashion, I was not going to take it lightly.

I had always seen myself as someone who is quite confident, comfortable in my own skin and not caring much about what someone else thinks, however, this was such a true test to my character. I had felt like it was the first day of high school all over again, wanting so badly to be accepted and to fit in. By the second day, all these insecurities had taken a toll on me emotionally, I had realised that I was trying so hard to fit in that I started to loose sight of the personality that I so proudly wore and the self expressive style which made me feel comfortable in my own skin. Even Chin noticed a uncomfortable change in me, I mean, what can I say, when you are surrounded by so many gorgeous people and models with a flawless aesthetic and impeccable style the feeling of insignificance is inevitable. I am so grateful though that I had him there, he reminded me about what was important and the reason I had taken the time out to commit myself to the event. I was able to shake myself out of it and start anew, without having such expectations weighing so heavily on me.

The third day into Fashion Week, I woke up that morning and stopped caring about what other people thought of me. Instead, I did what I wanted to do, wore what I wanted to wear and laughed the way I wanted to laugh (even though sometimes I sound like a dying donkey hahaha!). I realised that I wasn’t questioning myself, because of the way people treated me or the way they judged me, if anything most people were down to earth and really easy to approach. It was me being my own enemy; I was the one who was holding myself back and I was the one who started to change myself into what I thought would be accepted when all along it was fine being myself. Once again my insecurities had almost gotten the best of me but this time I’d like to think of myself as the victor.

I guess what I’m trying to share with you is that, just like everyone else’s life, everything is not always rainbows and butterflies and I would be lying if I said I was perfect. In my previous posts I have shared with you what I had seen at Fashion Week and who I had met, I thought it was also important to be truthful and share how I had felt during the whole experience. It was such an amazing opportunity and what I personally took away from Fashion Week was that it is important to stay true to who you are, stay grounded and don’t be afraid to be you. You know what they say “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”

Anyways, enough of the serious chatter, now for some visual communication, here are the outfits I wore at Fashion Week, There is one more outfit that I will be posting from that week so keep an eye out for it 🙂

Thanks again for visiting everyone and I hope have an amazing weekend !!!

The People of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney

Photos by – Yunn Chin Photography

Since our first Fashion Week, blogging life has been crazier than ever! Definitely a response that we did not expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised and humbled by the amount of people who have taken an interest in what we do :). The down side is I have not been able to move at such a rapid pace, thus the delayed posts.
After catching a breath from the chaos, I have been able to re-organise and finally work to getting these posts up to date, starting with this one, YAY!!!

The people of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney were both compelling and intriguing. I never imagined having the opportunity to attend such a celebrated event within the fashion world. In the past, I had imagined it as walking into what I would think is the equivalent of a dream like circus but in fashion. With gorgeous people who wore crazy outfits that were strange, aesthetically confusing, however, entertaining, shocking and at times humorous. I would never be able to make sense of why people would wear what they wore and the thought process behind it…..was it to seek attention, maybe?
It was not until I myself had attended the event, interacted, conversed and immersed myself in Fashion Week that I started to answer those questions.

What I had taken away from the eventful week was that the thought process behind each outfit, it was not for entertainment, earning the right for fashion exclusivity, nor gaining attention from the public or media (for most anyway). It was purely for self expression, creativity and making a personal statement of who you are through what you wore. There was a beauty about it, the concept of wearing what you wanted without the insecurities of boundaries and judgement, usually received from the public who easily misunderstands an individuals fashion choice. Fashion Week was a chance to be expressive, use fashion as a language and communicate with those who share that common understanding. I loved every minute of Fashion Week, it was like Christmas but in different sense hahaha!

Here are some of the styles that caught my eye, some of the people that inspire me and some of the people that I look up to who I had the pleasure of meeting 🙂

Which one is your favourite outfit?

Thanks for visiting and I’ll see you tomorrow with some long overdue outfit posts hehehe.

k-is-for-Kani

K is for Konnie, such a pleasure meeting a fellow fashion blogger who is so inspiring with her unique sense of style.

Margaret-Zhang

Who couldn’t forget the stunning Margaret Zhang from Shine By Three, so breathtakingly beautiful and every time I see here I get completely star struck and embarrass myself with unthought of jumbled words (*sigh, shakes head*). Besides the first embarrassing encounter I had with her, I thought It would be best to keep my distance hahaha!. Till next time, maybe I’ll have the guts to say hi again.

MBFWA_2014_NicoleWarne

Of course my absolute favourite fashion blogger Nicole Warne from Gary Pepper Vintage. She is the epitome of beauty, inside and out, the very person who inspired me to start my road into fashion and the person who inspires me till this day. It was such a dream come true being in the presence of blogger royalty.

Georgia May Jagger & Jerry Hall for Sunglass Hut “WOW MOM” Mother’s Day Campaign

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY EVERYONE!!!

Today is the day that we are reminded about how special and amazing our mothers truly are. A day that we treat them with breakfast in bed, heartfelt words, kisses on the cheek and shower them with gifts.

For this Mothers day, fashion photographer Matt Irwin beautifully captures the gorgeous global brand ambassador Georgia May Jagger, playfully having fun on set with her legendary supermodel mum Jerry Hall. Both coming together for the Sunglass Hut “WOW MUM” Mother’s Day campaign, which has just recently launched globally in stores and online.

This campaign shows a more interactive shopping experience through the Sunglass Hut website, allowing you to video call your mum, letting her electronically try on the sunnies of her choice. You’ll never have to doubt if she likes it or not ever again, even though she says she loves it hahaha!

If you have a family like mine, spread apart in different countries or even if you are just minutes away from your mum, its such a great way to get a gift that she will really enjoy.

You can check out the sunglasses featured in the campaign and even give the new shopping experience a go on the Sunglass Hut website HERE!

Thanks again for visiting  and I hope you all have an amazing Mothers Day 🙂

LAN YU

Lan Yu’s bridal gowns were absolutely Stunning!

The gowns were displayed on elevated boxes through a live installation allowing the viewer to walk around the designs. A mix of live models and mannequins were used to display the gorgeous gowns. Each of the 12 gowns represented a star sign, all beautifully designed with intricate fabrication, delicate beading and lace. We had the pleasure to attend the Lan Yu after party where we were able to view the gowns in closer detail.

The designs were simply amazing, I loved every single gown and I especially enjoyed the interactive installation in contrast to the typical runway show.

I had the great pleasure to meet the insanely talented designer Lan Yu and she was just as gorgeous as her gowns; incredibly graceful and elegant.

JAYSON BRUNSDON

‘Rio’ A collection filled with jacquard and silk dresses, with shimmer tones of earthy colours; this is a collection I adore. Exotically wild with golds, coppers, sequences and feathers; designs that translates the fun and the tropical environment of Brazil.

It was truly a breath of difference compared to the designs I had seen throughout fashion week.

MACGRAW

Oh MACGRAW how I adore you!!!

The peter pan collars, the puffed sleeves, the polka dots, the stripes, the print on print, everything about this collection is GORGEOUS!
This collection was one of the few that I could see myself wearing everyday. Current, youthful, fun, relatable and cute, I simply must have it all hahahaha!

IXIAH

I have so much love for this label!!!

The amazing designer behind Ixiah, Krystel Davis never ceases to amaze.
I have followed Ixiah for some time now and WOW! It has grown into an astonishing label with such a unique aesthetic, standing apart from the rest.
Debuting for the first time in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Ixiah pulled out all the stops with their signature detailing, tribal aesthetic, incredible fabrication teamed with bold and strong silhouettes.

It was incredible!

AJE

Reflecting on Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Aje by far had one of the best displays. A live installation showcasing their designs through live models blissfully relaxing around and under a Sahara-like cabana.
Peekaboo sheer fabrics with lace and detailed floral beading, the designs were beautiful.
We were able to walk around the collection and look at the designs closely whilst champagne and canapés were served. Viewers were able to freely converse about the collection, it was an interesting change of environment compared to the intense atmosphere at a runway show.

SONG FOR THE MUTE

Song for the Mute closed the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week with a daring and edgy Men’s collection. Grey tones with black and white layered aesthetic teamed with ribbed and textured coats. It was also interesting to see Lupe Fiasco close the show and he did it with such attitude and swag that only a Rapper embodies.

Masculine, intense, dark and structured designs; it was a great way to end our first Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney – The Innovators

Photos by – Yunn Chin Photography

CARLA NOLAN

Dinosaurs, bright coloured reptile prints in contrasting pastels against black, irregular cuts and silhouettes. This reminded me of the prehistoric times, visually engaging and edgy.

LOGVIN CODE

Textural overload with tassel like fabrication, geometric shapes and lines creating a futuristic aesthetic.

HAYLEY DAWSON

Vest and coat dresses combined with dungarees, subtle colours against cream and black; a great balance between street wear and formal elements.

BEINA WEI

Minimalistic, bold, structural, strong feminine silhouettes with in interesting use of metallic wrinkled like fabric. I loved everything about this collection from the matte visors, the clear clutches, the cute crops to the pale pink skorts.

MBFWA_2014_D5_BeiNaWei_02 MBFWA_2014_D5_BeiNaWei_01

KIAYA DANIELS

What interested me the most about this collection was the simplified child like drawing print, which was almost reminiscent of a Brett Whiteley drawing.

YOUSEF AKBAR

The vibrant use of gradient colours in uniquely structured garments held together with clear bolts and clear square belts made this was one of the most visually engaging collections from the Innovators show.
